Charles Miller was born in Brazil in 1874, but went to public school in England. He was a keen footballer and in his teenage years played for St Mary's (now Southampton FC).
Miller sailed back to Brazil in 1894. In his luggage were two footballs and a set of FA rules. These were the seeds that grew into the first Brazilain football club São Paulo Athletic Club.
