The Editor
I write graded reading and listening materials for English language learners. These include original stories like Love by Design and simplified versions of classics including Washington Square by Henry James & Oscar Wilde’s The Picture Of Dorian Gray.
My books have been published most of the major publishers in the field including Oxford University Press (OUP), OUP (Hong Kong), Longman, Macmillan and Penguin – see here.
About Graded Reading & listening
Three of my titles were singled out for their ‘particular excellence’ in Bamford & Day’s Extensive Reading in the Second Language Classroom (CUP) which described me as ‘amongst the best writers of language learner materials in English’.
Graded texts are specially prepared for language learners. They are shortened and simplified to make them easier to read and/or listen to. Features include:
- shorter paragraphs and sentences
- fewer unfamiliar words.
- a focus on the main narrative line.
These resources focus on short reading and listening activities are graded by language level and age where appropriate.
